Official Update On Joy And Our Baby

I’m writing you from the hospital room we’ve been in since Thursday last week and I’m just trying to fight back the tears.  Before I go into detail about what is going on I have to first thank God for even blessing us with the opportunity to have a child on the way, and our family, friends, and even my fans you have all been so supportive.  Also, please keep in mind I will not be using all of the correct medical terminology and we are in AMAZING hands here at the hospital.  I’ll let them worry about the lingo.

The Story:

On Thursday (July 29th) afternoon during one of Joy’s pre-natal appointments they noticed our baby had an extremely high heart rate, which was also causing fluids to develop in places it should not.  They immediately rushed Joy to another hospital that was equipped to deal with this serious situation.  It’s serious because Joy is about 30 weeks pregnant and to save the baby at one point they were going to have to deliver early, which is now not the case.  This was all going on as I was getting ready to load in for the Walking Dreams event in Sacramento.

These amazing people that we call doctors and nurses have been saving our baby’s life.  Joy has been on 24 hour monitoring as they give her medications to help our baby, and like I said we’ve been at the hospital this whole time.  The good news is, they have been able to get the baby’s heart rate down for longer periods of time, and it’s been high for shorter amounts of time.  The bad news is it’s taking a toll on Joy, but she is seriously being so strong right now, and she is such a resilient person.

Like I said, thank you ALL for your prayers.  The chances of us losing are baby are still there, but less than when we arrived.  This is not easy to talk about.  Joy and I are normally pretty private about situations like this but I know we can use as many people going to God and asking him to intervene.

For those of you who were at the Walking Dreams premier I want to thank you for sharing that special night with myself and my whole crew.  It was really hard for me to be there and perform.  All I could think about was Joy and our little one.  Your energy and love helped me get through it and reminded me that Walking Dreams is the journey, this is it.  I had to take off as soon as I could after the event and have been by Joy’s side since.

I just want to leave you all with this.  We are in the best hands here at the hospital, our family and friends are checking in constantly, and Joy is fighting so hard and I know we will get through this.  When it’s all done the only thing we’ll have to say is PRAISE GOD!

    David and Joy
I lost a baby at 14 weeks and can understand your fears and feeling of unease. I pray that God will help you find the strength to get through this (heck, on the bright side, he’s already given you each other). It sounds like Joy and baby are in great hands. Hang in there and keep faith in the fact that you have an outstanding medical team watching over you, as well as the prayers and support of so many people. Thank you for keeping us up to date on your very personal journey. God bless and thinking of you.
